Abstract:

Benchmarks are often performed to determine which vendors machine is best suited for the customers needs. These benchmarks must be constructed in a fashion that will ensure the results will be an accurate representation of the customers needs. Vendors, in their efforts to enhance the benchmarks, may over optimize the code and system. This over optimization will increase the customers timeline performance expectations. Solid benchmarking techniques can help mitigate this problem. This tutorial will cover how to create rules and benchmarks for accurate performance predictions, and how to use these benchmarks for timeline performance modeling and predictions.
